Summary Report
In conclusion, our upcoming products would follow the artist’s emotional journey of moving on from unreciprocated relationships. After finishing my initial ideas for the music video, I found that the most challenging obstacle I faced throughout the whole planning process was making sure all products follow the branding guidelines, effectively promoting the song “Tek It” and the artist. It was extremely important that the typography, color scheme, and major concepts of scrapbook & polaroids that I chose look good on all products. However, having everything sketched out helped me address the problem and made branding my products’ strength.
Even if our products are well-made, they need to be welcomed by the audiences. From prior research, I listed out all conventions of the pop and indie-rock genre, observed professional products in the industry as well as conducting a survey on Gen Z audience’s expectation on music videos. By following the conventions (e.g. following a love narrative, use of close-ups to convey emotions, etc.), my products will align with the target audience’s expectations. Furthermore, to make my products stand out from others and explore nicher themes, I combined deeper themes of fixation and coming-of-age. However, if I could go back and redo the planning process, I would want to add depth to my audience research, since my target group might be more specific so the data supporting my planning would be different.
With all lessons learned from the planning stages, I am prepared with a strong foundation and prepared to move on to construction to work on my technical skills.
